Getting Started with Solo or Lead Guitar
One of the more difficult things for new guitar players to do is to solo, or playing a series of notes over a chord progression. What scales can you use to play over a particular chord progression? Why do certain scales work with certain chords? Find out all this and more with a few lessons on how to play solo guitar. Before we get into the "hows and whys" let's jump right in get you playing a scale or two over a nice easy chord progression. We will give you the scale, and we play the chords and you practice soloing. First, let's start with a simple chord progression using major chords that you should be familiar with. For this chord progression you can start with the G Major Pentatonic Scale.
