One of the more difficult things for new guitar players to do is to solo, or playing a series of notes over a chord progression. What scales can you use to play over a particular chord progression? Why do certain scales work with certain chords? Find out all this and more with a few lessons on how to play solo guitar.

Before we get into the "hows and whys" let's jump right in get you playing a scale or two over a nice easy chord progression. We will give you the scale, and we play the chords and you practice soloing.

First, let's start with a simple chord progression using major chords that you should be familiar with. For this chord progression you can start with the G Major Pentatonic Scale.

Watch this video, then practice playing the notes of this scale while we play the chord progression.

For the next lesson we will play slightly more challenging chords, F#Major, B Major, and E Major

We will be adding many more solo guitar video lessons very soon.
